L.O.L. Surprise! Tweens Series 1 is the first series of the L.O.L. Surprise! Tweens fashion dolls line. It was first released as a part of the 707 Celebration (L.O.L. Surprise! Day), it features the older more specifically “tweenage” sisters to fan-favorite L.O.L. Surprise! tots.
This series featured Cherry B.B., Fancy Gurl, Freshest, and Hoops Cutie dolls.
History[]
All the information below is pure speculation based on the small amounts of information given, take with a grain of salt: In order to create the B.T.W./Tweens line, L.O.L. Surprise! had to cancel two of his projects for 2021 which were the second series of the J.K. dolls and the unreleased Series 5 line from the L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. brand.
It’s unknown the exact reason for creating the B.T.W./Tweens line though it was possibly due to the poor sales of the J.K. line, in order to earn more sales L.O.L. Surprise! scrapped the second series to the J.K. line and began developing a new spinoff targeting tweens (who were losing their interest in dolls/toys and focusing more on social media). In order to gain attention and get already existing fans talking MGA Entertainment’s marketing team decided to release two different names for the line one being Tweens and the other being B.T.W. (this is MGA’s own theory for the possible reasoning for the variation in boxes).
The line would take elements from the O.M.G. line which similarly focused on the older siblings to the L.O.L. Surprise tots. Things both lines share are:
- Surprise unboxing that when you pull open the door it reveals the doll
- Bedroom playset packages
- Surprises that are able to be unboxed
- Siblings being at the side of their box saying hello
